Who doesn't love potato chips? Unfortunately, they're not exactly healthy. There are a few good baked variations out there, but I find that the quality varies wildly from brand to brand. So what's the alternative if you love potato chips but don't love all the calories? The answer is popchips.
Popchips are neither fried nor baked; they're actually popped under heat and pressure. They taste very similar to your full fat potato chips, but each single serving bag has only 100 calories. My parents are obsessed with popchips. The owner of the company was nice enough to send over an assortment of chips, and I've decided to share them with you.
One lucky winner will receive single serving bags of original, parmesan garlic and salt and pepper popchips. To enter, leave a comment telling me your favorite low calorie snack; a winner will be drawn at random. The deadline for comments is Monday, February 16th at 5:00 pm PST.
Ow! These sound awesome! I want to try them! Fav low calorie snack=apples!
ReplyDeleteThe barbeque (yes that's how it's spelled) our my favorite! Impossible to just eat a few, once you start you can't stop until they are gone.
ReplyDeleteSara, I've never heard of Popchips. It's so hard to find a low cal chip. I like Cheecha Krackles, they are also gluten free and fat free. I think they are about 75 calories for 2 cups worth.
ReplyDeleteSounds so delicious Sara.

Elra

ReplyDeletePotato chips are good, but I usually avoid them like the plague because of the fat/calorie factor. However, coincidentally, when I was shopping yesterday, I discovered that the Oz supermarket chain Woolworths now produces "light" potato chips in a range of flavours, which only have 2.7g of fat per 31g serving (496kj/roughly 100 calories). I was in like Flynn, and bought a very tasty honey & soy packet.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of those Popchip people and how nice of you to share! I love frozen grapes. I like Genisoy Soy Chips which reminds me that I haven't bought any in quite a while.

ReplyDeleteI never eat chips, but I like low calorie dark chocolate bars very much. My husband loves full fat potato chips - overladen with salt and artery clogging fat. He got a present for his birthday from friends - a large garbage sack filled to the brim with Estrella potato chips. No sign of a heart attack yet...
