The popchips winner, a new look, and pizza

First of all, the winner of the popchips is Leanne!

Next, as you've probably noticed, the site has a new design. I want to thank my friends Jessica and Kristine for their help with the new photography and layout.

Finally, the pizza. When Kristine came over today to work on the site, we made some pizza for lunch. I made a batch of pizza dough from Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook and figured we'd come up with toppings based on the contents of my fridge.

We ended up topping the pizza with homemade pesto from the freezer, shredded fontina and parmigiano reggiano cheeses, yellow bell peppers and sliced asparagus. For baking pizza, I usually preheat my oven to 500 degrees - the longer it preheats, the better. When it's time to cook the pizza, I slide it onto a baking stone and lower the oven temperature to 450 degrees. I find that the pizzas are generally ready in about 15 minutes.

This was delicious, although I have to admit, it's hard to go wrong with homemade pizza!

Congratulation Leanne! I am loving the new site, Sara! It's look very clean.
What a coincidence, I just made pizza margherita for my son and husband. It's their favorite! They might like your recipe too.
Sounds so delicious.

Nice redesign Sara! :) Asparagus on pizza is so nice. I made an asparagus and triple cream brie pizza once and even the hardened carnivores liked that one the best lol

As soon as I opened your blog, I thought: that looks like a new design. Glad I am not going crazy :)

I like how the vegetables are sliced lengthwise instead of across: looks rather modern.

It's true -- it IS hard to beat home-made pizza. First, the aroma of the dough baking in the oven just sets the mood so perfectly. Second, you can top your pizza with whatever your heart desires. Three, you don't have to worry about having to eat a lukewarm pie. And four, in this chilly, wet weather, there are few nicer ways to make the house so warm and cozy.

Oh Sara the pizza looks divine, I made one for V-day but I wonder if I should double the dough to get a luscious fat crust like yours..

I love the new design -- the header is great! I was actually trying to come up with a new design for my blog this weekend, but wasn't as successful. My friend promised to help me with it, but I might just have to bake him a pizza like the beautiful one you made before that happens!

That looks so good - and so pretty! I'm a pesto nut. I would never be able to arrange my veggies so artfully though. I'm way too lazy.
