Vanilla sugar

After you scrape the seeds from a vanilla bean, don’t throw the pod away! It can be used to make vanilla sugar. Fill a container with sugar. Add the vanilla bean pod, cover the container and shake to combine. That’s all there is to it. The vanilla bean pod will flavor the sugar. You can add more vanilla beans as you use the seeds, and when you use all the sugar, just add more. Use vanilla sugar in place of regular sugar in any recipe where you want a more pronounced vanilla flavor.
