A few years ago, my in-laws brought us some rhubarb plants from their yard in San Diego. Most of the plants couldn't handle the Bay Area winters, but we do have a few that are still standing. I had enough rhubarb in the yard to put together this rhubarb and raspberry crisp.
This recipe is similar to most other fruit crisp recipes that you'll find. There are a few ingredients that make this one a little more unique. The raspberries and rhubarb receive a healthy dose of orange zest, and toasted hazelnuts go in to the crisp topping.

I love rhubarb - and usually combine it with strawberries. It grows like wildfire in Minnesota. This recipe is a beautiful keeper and I will try it with raspberries.
this is the best looking rhubarb treat I have seen...I have now been lured into the ways of the rhubarb....
I haven't seen rhubarb with raspberry, what a nice pairing. This is just a divine dessert, especially with the toasty hazelnut topping.

i'm slowly but surely accumulating a large list of recipes which contain rhubarb!
I've never cooked with rhubard but the combination with the raspberries has my attention. I'll have to give this a try.
Sam
I should really try rhubarb again...all I remember was eating some pretty gross rhubarb out of our backyard as a kid (no sugar I think was the problem) and I haven't touched it since.
Everyone is loving up the rhubarb this week! Crisps make me know that summer is here :) Looks delicious as always!
Oh, rhubarb and raspberries sound great together...I love all of the flavors in this crisp, it sounds delicious :)
Love all the rhubarb I am seeing this week. Perfect summer treat.
This sounds so delicious, especially with that black raspberry ice cream! I've got to get myself on this rhubarb train everyone is riding!
YUM... Once I had something like this in England! Thank you for the recipe!

Oh wow, this looks amazing!!!
Sorry, I used the wrong profile, but again, delicious!
Toasted hazelnuts? Yes! Orange zest? Oh yes!
I love making fruit crisps because they come together so quickly and the combo of rhubarb and raspberry sounds lovely! I also really like the hazelnuts on top!
Those raspberries are absolutely stunning!! the crisp looks so good! I love how you have such fresh produce where you live. Its so hard to find fresh beautiful looking fruits and veggies here.
Lovely combonation! It looks delicious :)
I know you're not going to be shocked but I haven't tried rhubarb yet. I've added onto my grocery list as I can see I'm missing out.

Happy holiday weekend, Sara!

I have never tried rhubarb, because the fruit is not in Indonesia.. :(
I love Rhubarb. One of my favorite desserts in England was rhubarb crumble - very similar to this dish. We would like to grow some, but the extremes of temerature in Oklahoma make it difficult. I just know this was yummptious.
very good blog, congratulations
regard from Reus Catalonia Spain
thank you
Sara, your photos are so gorgeous! And I love this Rhubarb-Raspberry combo better than Rhubarb-Strawberry. I'll bet this was so delicious!
Lovely pictures! I've yet to cook with rhubarbs!
Fruit crisp *and* black raspberry ice cream? That sounds heavenly! :)
The pic of raspberries look fabulous.
I bet the streusel topping is cripsy and delicious.
I love crisps so much, I usually make mine with apples. This is a great combo.
I love the raspberries in there...so yummy! Rhubarb crisp is just the best.
Great crisp! I'm allergic to raspberries... do you think blackberries or strawberries would be a good sub in? Probably blackberries would give the most similar texture, right?
Thanks Sara!
Marta - I would use cherries or strawberries. Blackberries might be a little too tart with the rhubarb. But you could try blackberries and just up the sugar slightly!
This dessert looks so warm and comforting. I love the combination of raspberries and rhubarb.
Oh this looks outrageously delicious Sara!
Your photos are beautiful. Congrats on your FFF award.
I'd never heard it called a 'crisp' before but it looks scrumptious!
Beautiful! I love rhubarb, I guess we have a hardier type here in Canada.
Sara, your photos are gorgeous! I was thinking about making a crisp with all the cherries that are in season around the Bay Area, but maybe I'll do this instead.
This is exactly what I've been looking for--ideas for rhubarb. I've never really loved the stuff, but happened to get a free pound of it on Friday. What to do, what to do!
yum yum crunchy raspberry crisp ummm mouthwatering.
That looks really good! I just saw some rhubarb at the farmers market this week. I will have to pick some up soon!
Mmm those raspberries look so yummy! I still haven't tried cooking with rhubarbs, I like this recipe!
I have been seeing strawberry with rhubarb every where. The raspberries are a lovely choice! DELICIOUS!
