Berkeley Food Tour - Bakeries and Food Stores

Today we went to a bunch of different markets and bakeries in Berkeley. First on the list was Crixa Bakery on Adeline Street. Here's what we bought:

From left, clockwise is the great flodni - apples, poppyseeds and walnut layered wth pastry, almond cake with raspberry and carmella - chocolate chiffon cake with vanilla whipped cream, bittersweet chocolate mousse and butterscotch caramel. We liked the almond cake the best.

We also went to the bakery at Bette's Oceanview Diner.

Clockwise from top, turtle brownie, chocolate almond macaroon and bread pudding. The bread pudding and chocolate almond macaroon were excellent.

I picked up a variety of other food items during the day.

Left to right, from top to bottom: Scharffen berger cocoa powder, roasted piquillo peppers, fresh meyer lemon pasta, wildflower honey, sanding sugar, callebaut white chocolate, ricotta salata, italian gorgonzola, membrillo and truffled pecorino.
